Webbing Slings Standards the Importance of BSEN 1492 and 149

However, it is necessary for any piece of equipment or product to comply with certain standards and guidelines. In this article we discuss the importance of the webbing slings Standards BSEN 1492:1 and 1492:2 for our
webbing slings.
Webbing Slings Standards- BSEN 1492:1
The two standards apply to different things, and BSEN 1492:1 relates to flat woven webbing slings that are intended for general purpose use, such as the general lifting of objects. It applies to any flat woven webbing sling that is made of polyamide, polyester, and polypropylene, has or does not have end fittings, and that is within a width range of 25mm to 450mm. To conform to this European Standard, all flat woven webbing slings should be stored at the following temperatures:
- Polyester - -40 degrees to 100 degrees
- Polyamide - -40 degrees to 100 degrees
- Polypropylene - -40 degrees to 80 degrees
BSEN 1492:1 does not cover situations where flat woven webbing slings are used to lift persons or dangerous substances such as acid or in nuclear reactors.

Webbing Slings Standards- BSEN 1492:2
The BSEN 1492:2 standard refers to round sling webbing slings that can handle up to 40 tonnes of load weight. As with the above standard, this standard applies to round sling web slings that do or do not have end fittings, are made from polyester, polyamide or polypropylene and that have two-leg, three-leg, or four-leg assemblies.
Also, as with the above standard, BSEN 1492:2 is applied only when the round sling is being used for general purpose use and does not cover the lifting of persons or dangerous substances. The same temperature rules for the storage of flat woven slings as listed in BSEN 1492:1 also apply to round slings with the standard BSEN 1492:2.
