Wire Rope has become one of the most versatile and useful pieces of equipment around. It has dramatically transformed the way in which dozens of industries operate. which is even more the case thanks to the hand spliced assemblies and range of fittings that it can be utilised with. While we supply both of these products separately, we also supply a number of assemblies as well; finished pieces of equipment made from wire rope and complete with an end fitting.
As we do offer these two categories of products separately, it is possible for you to create this assembly yourself. However, it is highly recommended that you only use the help of the experts when looking to create this equipment. This means they will be to ISO standards. One such type that requires the experts are hand spliced assemblies. Please find all relevant product information below, as well as contact details for ordering.
What are hand spliced assemblies?
It’s worth noting that it’s just not wire ropes that can be spliced, but our fibre ropes too. However, you will find that a
hand-spliced wire rope product is a common type of this equipment that is used.
A common way a rope is hand-spliced is one that has had its end bent back along itself to create a looped eye shape. The strands at the end of this eye are then tucked back inside the body of the rope by hand. This is called a tapered and concealed splice. The eye shape helps to create a sling that can be used for a variety of applications. Without the worry of their being any rough ends that could snag hands.
You can often see hand-spliced ropes being utilised with thimbles. These are metallic objects that resemble the shape of the eye loop mentioned above. With this small fitting, the rope will be bent around the thimble to create the eye loop. With the internal thimble offering a strong structural support.
Hand-splicing can be complete without the need for a thimble. But this product is recommended as it adds an extra layer of safety and strength to an operation.
Hand spliced assemblies come in many forms, hand splicing can be used to join two pieces of wire rope too.
All hand-splicing provided by us will have been safely, reliably and professionally carried out on site by our experienced team. Those conducting the actual hand-splicing are fully trained, and can help to create some of the best spliced products on the market!
