The breadth of our wire rope range is certainly impressive, especially when you consider that we offer customers this compacted 6x36 configuration rope alongside a non-compacted equivalent. This particular rope is a 24mm 6x36 compacted wire rope and has a capacity of up to 51 tonnes.
Aside from the upper end of the load-bearing capabilities that we have already covered above, this 24mm 6x36 compacted wire rope has a few other tricks up its sleeve. The compaction not only makes it stronger and narrower, but also smooths out the surface and leads to less friction being created as it travels through winches or sheaves or comes in contact with other surfaces.
Compacted ropes are used in many areas, including shipping, engineering and for crane ropes. Because the wire strands have been compacted, they are flatter and smoother, this is a huge benefit. The strands provide more contactable area and so reduce stress to pin-pointed areas of the rope. Because the rope has already been pressed/compacted to form a really tight bundle it is much more crush resistant than non-compacted ropes.
